63 ninety eight CSC police motor?

Gidday,
I've just bought a 63 Ninety Eight Custom Sports Coupe.
The motor has the correct number for a Starfire, the casting numbers are correct, but the color is not red but silver.
Just want to know if this is a police spec motor, see pics attached.
Seems that the car was set up for towing an Airstream caravan with air shocks in the rear, it has a Wally Byam sticker on the front screen.
Many thanks for your help, kind regards, Grant

Gidday mate,
Welcome to Classic Olds.
I like your choice of cars, I have a CSC as well. From what I know I have not heard anything about a silver engine, not saying you are wrong just that this is new to me.
More likely that the original engine failed and was rebuilt or replaced and painted this colour. My car has the towing package which includes the closed frame side rails, air shocks and a heavy duty flasher. The CSC was a Starfire package including the bucket seats, floor shifter console, dual exhaust manifold and the Starfire engine and transmission. Your car looks very clean and the white will help with the heat down under. The pic of the casting numbers shows what month it was cast, bore size and casting fixture, all 63 full size use this block. The difference is inside, pistons and cam shaft combinations decide your horse power. One the front beside the water pump housing you might see an X or 2 X's stamped this would indicate this block it .010 over and the crank is .010 under, this could signify why it is silver.
Lets see more pictures of this fantastic car of yours!!!

The Starfire engine was standard in 1963-64 Ninety Eight CSC. The 63-64 Dynamic/Super 88 highway police option also used the Starfire engine. No difference in the two to my knowledge.

I'm gonna say your engine has just been painted silver at some point. Starfire engines were red with either chrome or silver painted valve covers and aircleaner.

Welcome to the forum, good to see another 63 big car. For some reason the 62's and 64's seem more common than the 63's...

You don't even have the factory chromed valve covers on there- looks like someone else was in there before you got it

Hi AUSOLDZ,
Did you import this car or buy it from another guy in Australia?
Nice clean car there, is it a faded red interior or antique rose ( hard for me to tell from photos).
I see you have air, does it work? and is it power antenna on the rear?
I will have a spare handle it you need it for the vent window.
What parts are you looking for? I have a parts car that I'm stripping.

Love that interior with the fabric seats, has it been redone or is it original?

Csc

Hi guys! Thanks so much for making me feel so welcome.
To answer your questions Oldskeeper, I bought the car from a dealer in Sydney NSW a week ago, he had it for two years in storage and he had bought it off a guy in Victoria who had imported it in 2008 form the US.
The interior is original I believe judging by the wear on the pedals and the carpet on the drivers side.
Yes it has air, haven't fired it up yet will get it checked out by the A/C guys first.
Power antenna is all there but disconnected from the wiring.
At this stage I'm missing the fender script on the RHS and the word Eight on the LHS fender.
I have the vent window handle but seems like the regulator is gone.
Will post some more pics soon.
Kind regards, Grant

Nice car Grant, you should have many years of fun driving in her.
My CSC is in the antique rose interior and antique rose exterior with a white top.
Send me a list of the parts you require and once the snow melts enough for me to get to my parts cars I can see if they are good enough.
