57 tri-power air cleaner

Don't know why the site is limiting me to the Newbie forum...I've posted on other forums here before...any ideas? Anyway, I want to install the J-2 setup on my 57 and am looking for an original aircleaner set-up. Does anyone know 1: What it looked like (I assume I AC for the three carbs) and 2: Where in the world I might find one? No luck with Fusick...Thanks!

There are two types of air cleaners. One is nicknamed the batwing because it has two cannisters one each side of the tri-carbs with a center top cover setting over the carbs. This is used on a non-AC cars. Knockl offs of these have been manufactured.

The other type is round with three studs one on each carb. This was used on the non AC cars

Both types show up on e-bay from time to time. They have even been posted on the parts for sale forum here. Both types are usually very expensive. I sold a batwing for 600.00 and have seen them go as high as 1200.00. Good luck in your hunt

Thanks! Point of clarification - which style was for non-AC cars?

I see the confusion. I gave the same answer to both air cleaners

Round is for the AC cars 1957

Batwing is for the non-AC cars 1957

Round used on both in 1958

Let me or Paul know what kind of message you are getting that prevents you from posting in the other forums. Error messages....? We will try to fix it.

When I go to other forums under "rules" it just says I can't do new posts. Thanks

Thanks for the tip. I'm also hoping to make it to Spring Carlisle to look...so I guess I need a batwing since my car's non-AC? I was actually going to try and convert my single barrel round one...If I could figure out how to attach a photo I'd send you a couple!...thanks!
