1978 350 parts on a 68-76 block

Hey Group, my buddy has a 67 Cutlass convert with a 350 out of a 78 Ninety-eight. The engine has the 78's brackets, intake, carb, etc. I think only the exhaust manifolds are from the 67. The engine is shot so we want to buy a rebuilt 68-76 350. Will everything from the 78 engine bolt on to the older block? I see different part numbers for the intake gasket but can we use that 78 intake? I know we'd be better off getting a non-EGR intake but for now we just want to get it back on the road with a good engine without smog ported heads. Thanks.

Yes, all the bolt holes and interfaces are in the same places. The big difference is the head bolt size. 1964-76 SBOs use 7/16" head bolts, 1977-1990 SBOs use 1/2". Get the intake gasket that matches the year of the heads you are using.
