1968 Toronado seat

Hi, I am new to this forum and I was wondering if anyone could give me a couple tips on how to get the front seats out of a 68 toronado. It does have power seats and I don't want to brake anything.

Thanks, Ed

Ed,
If the seat works like it should, it it is not that hard. Assuming it can move back & forth & up & down I'd move it all the way forward with the rear of the seat as far up as it will go. That will allow you to see the thin plastic skirts that are held in with round push pins. If you can gently remove them from the rear that should expose the mounting bolts/nuts attaching the seat to the floor. Be careful with the plastic pieces as they break easily. Assuming you get the rear fasteners loose, move the seat all the way back with the front of it high in the air & repeat the procedure. There will be a power wire under the driver side of the seat I believe, just separate that & the (heavy) seat should be ready to come out.

Great thanks,
Unfortunately the seats are locked up and wont move, but I do hear a click.
Do I bite the bullet and try to take the skirts off without moving the seats hoping they don't brake?

Hard to say without seeing it in person. If it won't move, you may not have much choice. If you can see the push pins, I'd say go for it. If it does break & it is real important to you, save the pieces & maybe you can glue them back together?
Good luck.

Ed,
Does the car have the deluxe interior with the "Strato-Bench Seat"? (The seat backs look like buckets) If so, remove the lower seat trim on each side. Two screws in front, one on the side at the rear. That will give you a bit more access. You may also be able to disconnect the cables from the tracks and fit a square drive bit into the actuators to try and move the tracks up. If you have a Fisher Body manual the power seat information is in section 15.

Best of luck,
Brian
