1968 442 vin
Greetings all,
I have a question regarding a vin on a 1968 442 that I'm thinking of buying. The vin indicates that the plant code is an "E". I can't find any plants for that era matching that code. The body tag plate indicates it was put together in Lancing Michigan. I believe it should have an "M" in the vin. Am I wrong or is this possibly a switch vin.
Any help would be appreciated.

E = Linden, New Jersey assembly plant
You can decode the VIN here.
I can't answer for sure but I believe the "body" was assembled by Fisher in Lansing and then sent to Linden for final assembly at that plant??

Or a cowl tag swap. It's not unheard of. My cowl tag was held on by about half a rivet when I got my car.
It's also not illegal anywhere but Oklahoma
zapat167, you should post a clear pic of the cowl tag. I assume it's got paperwork to back it up as a E VIN car so it can be registered, correct? You could always find a Linden cowl tag or....horrors...have one made (cowl tags ARE reproduced)
