1968 350 Engine Code
1968 350 Engine Code
First off... I am a member of "wild about cars online" so can't find what I need there... so maybe someone here can be of help..
1968 350 Olds Rocket 4 barrel Automatic w/AC
engine code: TN or QP ? What is the difference?
Some venders show TN for the decal and some show QP...
Some only show TN for '71 but other show it for '68
Some only show QP... for '68 - 72
www.supercarsunlimited may have it right because "Olds" are all they do... but again, they only show QP...
I am so confused...

Engine code TN was only used with the Delmont 88.
QR and QS were used with the Vista Cruiser.
QN and QP were used with Cutlass and Cutlass Supreme.
So, the question is, what kind of car do you have?

Ok... I bought an assembly manual from a vender that sent an unsatisfactory (hard to read print) copy. I should have returned it, but it did say (on the eBay listing) reproduced from a copy and some pages are hard to read. But almost the entire thing looks like they were running low/out of ink. That's why I became a member of wildaboutcars.com but could not find it... I guess I just needed help, so thanks a million. Jack
I had a hard copy but the one that I posted from above was from WAC. Generally the stuff I have from WAC is pretty good quality but things that need decent resolution to read (like the wiring diagrams in the Service Manual) are better with originals.

Hey... Mike... Here is another question for you... I bought these "Blue" GM Mark of Excellence stickers I see on some '68 Olds Cutlass and 442's but were they really used '68 ? Vendor's OPGI, Fusick, etc. sell them and say all GM "blue" decals for 68-72. Is this a sales pitch or were they really put on these cars? I bought them so.... trying to decide. Thanks, Jack

I don't remember seeing them on 68's but I don't know for sure
I downloaded a picture of one (of several) that I have found on the internet... Strangely enough one vendor (OPGI) has a notation in their sales catalog that says they were used on the drivers side door... who knows (?) probably just trying to sell more stuff...
If you mean the square blue-on-white, about 2" sticker, I, personally, don't recall seeing those on '68s, but they could have just come off.
Someone on here will know for certain, but I would bet that if you were to contact Mark Cornea (DrDecal), he'd be able to tell you. He seems like a straight shooter.
