1965 Jetstar1 owner.

I own a 1965 Olds Jetstar 1. Bought it in Bemidji, MN. It is Burgundy Mist exterior with black interior. The funniest thing about the car is that the production number is 666, or the mark of the beast mentioned in the Bible. Maybe I will have "ABEAST" put on the license plate. The only thing I wish it had, is the limited slip differential. If anybody knows where to get a 1965 Olds limited slip differential for this vehicle then let me know please. I know you can get an aftermarket but would rather have an exact match. Also, everything is original and correct on the car. Any other jetsar 1 owners out there?

You mean the VIN ends with something like 100666? If so, it was produced hugely early in the model year at the plant in question.

Somehow I got brainwashed into thinking I had a production number car of 666. Thanks for the clarification as I now realize that you can't really prove what any production number was. You can get the month and week, but that is as good as it gets. Thanks for pointing this out, as I started telling people that I had a car that was production number 666. Since I am a Christian, I guess I am glad that I can't prove that is production number 666 lol.

Yes, but can you prove it's NOT 666?

What got you started on the idea that it was number 666, anyway?

I was on a website that supposedly deciphered the body tag on the upper drivers side firewall. I assumed they were telling the truth without double checking them. All of the other deciphering websites and info. says you never can prove the actual number. But it is as you say, I really can't disprove it either. The build sheet that I found between the gas tank and the floor, has the last six numbers of the door jam vin no on it, in the vehicle identification number part of the build sheet ending in 666. Of course as I said, the door jam vin no. ends in 666 and the body tag on the drivers side firewall has the body number as 666 also. Maybe it was 666, I guess we'll never know for sure. Thanks for correcting me and the info.. Dan.

You should post your VIN and a photo of the body cowl tag (or a careful copying of what's on it) so we can all see what you're talking about.

Tell us more about your J1. Pictures would be great as well.

Did you find the build sheet?

Sold my J1 in 2000. White with gold interior.

Only have 3 parts left from that car!

Where are you located? I have a 3.23 posi from a '65 Starfire. I'm in Buffalo, NY.

Please post pics of your car, too.

How did you end up with the 65 Starfire posi? How much would you want for it? I'll get pictures out as soon as I can.

Bought it years ago on eBay from a guy in Lansing, MI. I damn near got killed driving there to pick it up on a day that started with freezing rain and ended in a blizzard. What should have been a 10 hr. trip took almost 20

Anyhoo... I bought it to use in my Delmont, but since changed plans and decided to keep the stock 8.2" Pontiac. It's been sitting on jackstands in my garage ever since. I'd like $325 for it complete, drum to drum. I could pull the diff. and gears if someone just needed those. The housing is pretty badly rust pitted anyway, but the axles and pinion still turn freely and seals don't leak.

Pics would be nice!
Your title would show your vin#
How optioned is it - my '65 Jetstar I was loaded - even power seat and 'tow package' which was 4:33 rear end!
Dk. blue - 3 tone blue interior!
If it had posi - it was worn out - smoked the RR until you got off the gas

No offense, but there was not a factory "tow package" for a '65 JS1. Heavy duty items for towing were individually available, but not a package. And 4:33s were not a dealer install option, let alone a factory option. Do you have any documentation? Or were they added aftermarket?
Sorry, I won't believe that without documentation.

Bought it used, but with that S/P converter and good tires, was a bear outa the gates!
That was back in '69, when it was just a 'gas guzzler', too!
Not even a thought about 'collectables' back then - who knew??

You better believe it was a bear! It was the "top accelerator" in the 1965 Pure Oil Trials.

Are you keeping them for keepsakes or wanting to sell them. Mine are fine but would like to have a set for making up a display. My Jetstar1 has 55,000 actual miles on it and unrestored.

You don't have to Google it in that view-only form, it is on Wild About Car in the clean original *and* downloadable form.

Wild About Cars. http://wildaboutcars.com
You'll find Chassis Service Manuals, Product Information Manuals (AKA Assembly Manuals), Inspector's Manuals, and other documents that will contain this and much much more.
