1964 olds dynamic 88 project
1964 olds dynamic 88 project
after some wheeling and dealing i ended up with a 1964 olds dynamic 88. the car runs and drives but needs a new carb ( thanks to an idiot previous owner who tried to rebuild the carb and forgot to put a spring on the accelerator pump ) and points/ timing need a little adjustment as they were also replace by the same previous owner and done incorrectly. the engine compartment is pretty clean accept for a rust hole on the firewall, the interior needs alot of help but much of the original is salvageable i think. the body is straight accept the bumpers need to be stripped some rust issues taken care of and re dipped in chrome. the quarter panels had a **** ton of bondo and thin tin in them near the bottoms which i have ground down and found some accessive rotting underneath. heres where my question lies. does anyone know of any place who sells replacement quarter panels? can a quarter panel off a jetstar be modified to fit or is it the same ? how difficult could it be to fabricate a new partial quarter panel?
Nice cruiser!
IIRC, the Jetstar shared the same body will all 88's of that year. Only diference would be trim.
thanks i appreciate it! hoping to cruise it a little next weekend with my kids, its gonna be a fun project for sure. definitely has potential. not sure if i want to keep it stock or thought about building a touring car out of it.
You can use a quarter panel from any 2-door 1964 Olds B-body- Dynamic, Jetstar 88/Jetstar I, Starfire. There a pinchweld seam underneath the fender crown moulding that is perfect for a hidden cut.
You can also use one from a four-door if all you need is the rear section.
Bumpers will be tricky and the rear one will be $$$ if you have to get another one for a core.

the bumpers are pretty solid but the chrome had altt of pitting and some rust and the back bumper has a quarter size dent in it. im hoping the dent can be fixed and the bumpers stripped and re chromed. the quarter panels are rusted though just below the small curve ( body line ) on the quarter and a very small portion of the wheel well curve in the same area. the passenger side has alot more cancer than the driver side. im hoping to finish the bodywork with little to no bondo ( probably leading )
