1963 ninety-eight 2dr hard top turn signal

Hello, I recently purchased a '63 98 2dr in great shape. However, the casing around the steering column isnt the proper one. mine has the shifter on the floor and this casing was obviously from a car with it on the column. not sure if that is why the left turn blinker is constantly on or if its the wrong mechanism or what. any thoughts are appreciated.

Welcome. I assume your car is a 1963 Ninety Eight sport coupe with buckets and console? Very cool.

Obviously your steering column has been replaced, as evidenced by the wrong color. The turn signal issue is unrelated to the fact that this was a column shift steering column. More likely there's something broken in the turn signal switch.

Welcome to Classic Olds, You have a custom sport coupe and somewhere along the way some body changed out the steering column. The switch that is not plugged in is the neutral safety switch and doesn't apply. Your safty switch is on the shifter in the console. The signal switch is the other one, the problem is under the wheel and most likely is the cancelling cam being broken or the spring has failed. This would be a good time to see if you can find a tilt with floor shift column. Check in the manual and it should have a complete section on this .
