What's your definition of rare? Do you see one as often as you see a fire hydrant? No. Do you see one as often as you see the Cleveland Browns win the Superbowl? Probably yes.

Of course it's rare. It was made 57 years ago. Everything made that long ago is rare in 2019.

Looks like a nice car. You going to restore it to its original glory?

For the record, your car is a 1962 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Coupe (two-door hardtop). Oldsmobile made 9,010 of these in that model year. It was the least produced of the three Super 88 non-station wagon body styles that year, with 24,175 Celebrity Sedans (four-door pillared), and 21,174 Holiday Sedans (four-door hardtop) produced. Thus, the Holiday Coupe comprised 16% of Super 88 non-station wagon production in 1962. Your make and model was fairly rare even when it was new. I think the fact that the four-door versions of this model greatly outsold the two-doors, which tended to be looked upon as more sporty, suggests that most Super 88 buyers in 1962 were looking for comfortable family transportation.

Typical scrappage rates suggest that 1% of a model's production is still on the road after 25 years, and then the curve tends to flatten out. This suggests that there are maybe around 100 examples of your car still registered somewhere.

Not sure on the plan yet. I’m going to drive it as is this year, I got a lot of good or new nos trim pieces to replace the dented or rusted stuff on the car when I bought it, car is in very good shape, few holes in the floor boards but that all, original California car, gentlemen I bought it from bought it in 1990 in Michigan, sat in his driveway for 8-10 yrs outside when I stopped and asked if he wanted to sell it after driving past for 5 yrs

jaunty75 thanks for the info

I don't know if you had your questioned answered, but the correct steering wheel hub is the one with the logo and no lettering.
