Hello everybody. My name is Christina. My husband and I have been members of the N.A.O.C. for many years. I'm very much looking forward to getting in contact with Olds enthusiasts all over the world through this website.
I'm hoping to get my 58 Station Wagon on the road soon. As I mentioned in another thread, I'm having a fight with the vacuum systems in my car. Once those problems will be solved, the car should be ready to roam the Swiss Roads.
Hello and welcome from Finland. Thats an great picture; all that chrome hurts my eyes
Hello to Finland The car had been partly restored before I bought it many, many years ago. The car apparently had been repainted with all the chrome still on the car. Later on we started to restore it and one of my first jobs was spending hours cleaning all those chrome pieces....
Welcome to Classic Olds. Explain what problems you are having with the vacuum system, and I'm sure someone will be able to help. Great looking wagon. Larry
I love the red and white. Nobody will miss that one coming down the road. I hope you enjoy it here. There are lots of great folks here with lots of knowledge and are glad to help. There are lots of us here with rides from the 50's.

Hello Larry, thank you. I think I'll open a new thread in case that there is somebody who might be able to help or who might be glad about the information.

I opened a new thread in : vintage Oldsmobiles - vehicle lineup . 1958 Fiesta Station Wagon - help needed with vacuum system - wiper and heating.
There is one - I know very basic - question that I posted there. I have an original Shop Manual but unfortunately pictures of vacuum connections and lines in the engine compartement are sparse. So I was wondering if there were somebody in the Forum who could reconfirm my assumption.
Would you mind taking a look ? Or do you know somebody who could help ? greetings Christina
Larry, wow, thanks a lot for the research. Well, almost - I'd say pretty close.
I think the main "mistake" is, that we haven't connected the vacuum manifold at the engine with the vacuum pump/fuel pump. We thought that the vacuum pump /fuel pump produces the neccessary vacuum. Looking through my Shop Manual over and over I realised, that the engine is acutally producing the vacuum and the vacuum pump/fuel pump only adds to it.
I'm glad about your find though. Now I know for sure, that there's only one vacuum hose coming from the wiper switch.
Thanks again and have a nice Sunday, Christina
