1957 Olds A/C Need Help

I'm restoring a 57 Olds Starfire, I need the A/C compressor mounting brackets - or at least some photos as to how they look installed. Also could use a Fan Shroud for it also. Thanks, Gary3173

First of all welcome to CO.

I can't help you out much on your parts needs as all my stuff is a little older but if you create a post in the parts wanted forum someone may be able to help you out. Also there are a bunch of 50's era guys and girls who hang around the vintage forum you might stick your head in there and say hi someone there may have your parts or pictures that will help.

Pictures are mandatory or they will pester you to death..Lost in the fifties ....Tedd

I have a few pictures of mounted a/c compressor. Fan shroud is a different story.
You need a A/C fan blade . I used a fan shroud from a 56 Ford F-100 truck. Steel but fits with a lot of Mods.... send email and i will forward.

Gary I have a 60 with a 371 parting out. It has factory air. I have the front mount for the compressor and the actual plate that bolts to the engine the compressor mounts to. I don't have a book that goes back that far, but if someone has a book and can look it up, I'm sure they should be the same. Let me know Paul

Thanks for the reply - all my books go back to 58 and it seems that 57 was unique to it s self. The 1960 are you sure it is a 371, most were 394s. Thanks, gary

57 ac

I'm glad to see the AC discussion. I am trying to AC my 57 98 as well. I want to leave the stock power steering pump and J2 setup accessible and am hoping to mount the AC pump and the alternator both out left clearing the valve cover. I am thinking Vintage Air perhaps. I'm not going to cut the side vent holes in the dash. I was hoping though to get the 2 vents that pop up in the middle top of the dash and maybe mount 1 vent underdash.
I built the alternator bracket years ago but will probably need to rebuild it and an AC mount. Has anybody done this?
Pat
