1956 Olds Super 88 Holiday 2-dr

Just joined up and need advice as to our "new" 1956. Son wants to replace factory trany with 700R or T350. I say no, rebuild original factory unit. What say you?

If its an original motor none of the late stuff will bold up. You have to use what you have or go with one of the expensive adapters out there.

Welcome to the site. I am pretty my my next project is going to be a 54 Holiday

welcome, in my opinion i would keep the trans and rebuild it, its so much easyer rather then modify everything to make a th350 fit. which trans is it? if it has park its a jettaway, if there is no park then its a early hydromatic.............john

Welcome to CO

If your keeping the stock engine, keep the stock transmission as well. Its a good transmission and the car will be worth more when and if you decide to sell it.

I have the factory 1956 service manual and the auto trans training manual. Fusick has the master overhaul kit for $379.00. Do you have the Jetaway or Hydramatic? The Jetaway has a Park gear.
