1956 Holiday 98

I was delighted to find this forum being a 70 year old Englishman contemplating the purchase of a 1956 Holiday 98. It seems to be in great condition, but not cheap being about $34,000. Any pointers as to what to look out for would be appreciated.

Welcome aboard, she looks fabulous but like any 60+ year old car what's been done to it in during the rebuild? For $34,000 there should be a laundry list of replaced/restored parts. To me $34,000 is a little high if restored correctly but then again that is about what one would have in it if you had to build it yourself with a lot of free labor..... Lost in the fifties ..Tedd

Personally my opinion of course, to much $$$ for a more door ( 4 door car)

first of all,a drop dead gorgeous car, love the holiday hardtops even in a 4 door.the price might sound high but if it is a solid car that was done RIGHT it's worth it.SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL! you could not have one restored for that money.imo

Welcome to the site, beautiful car. Imho, the price is a bit high for a 4 door and I'm assuming it needs to be transported overseas? I also believe if its a nice resto it cannot be duplicated for that kind of money. The hobby is based on love of these cars and if that's the one you like, work on the price a bit.

Welcome to the forum. The license plate makes me think that the car may already be in the U.K. Judging by other shortfalls in Oldsmobiles of the mid 50s, watch for leaks around the rear glass and the radiator; and I would recommend doing a comprehensive compression check of the engine.
