1955 88 hardtop

HI All,

Geetings from the Gold Coast in Australia and im in the process of finishing my 10 year build on my 1955 88 hardtop.

A couple of pics of the old girl! almost completed

I have a question as the fabrication shop lost my boot lock mechanism, the actual bit that the key lock goes into and latches onto the boot latch.

and i cant find one anywhere on ebay?? Are they the same as the Pontiac?

If not can someone point me in the direction of finding one?

Thanks all.

PS; Tried Fusicks etc and no luck either

I think we have a difference in terminology. I suspect you are talking about what we call the trunk. Are you looking for the lock cylinder that goes in the trunk that the key goes in?

If the trunk lock assembly is what you are needing ,they are sold on EBay for 1955 Chevrolet (Image Below). I found one location that called them a Boot trunk lock. Hope this helps, Larry

Thanks all for the replies, The part im missing is the actual lock that attaches to the striker in mounted in the trunk on the car.

I have the keys, lock and striker but nothing that actually holds the trunk on the car? if you know what I mean.

Thanks again and will post some more pics in the other threads!

Here's a couple pictures from a 1954, but I believe 1955 was the same. From what you shared I'm guessing you need the unpainted piece with the two bolts into it. Check out the photos and let us know if that's correct, or do you need one of the pieces that's welded on? John

Thanks for the help mate, im sorry to confuse everyone but its the latch in the actual trunk lid? its the part that locks the trunk on to the piece in your photo.

The part I require is what the lock cylinder goes into it and unlocks it and releases the trunk? IL try and get a photo to show everyone thanks again!

Heres a pic

Smile Trunk latch

It's not cheap but EBay list them 2 ways for a '55 Chevrolet, and I think they would be the same. (Pictured below) 1 piece $79, and 3 piece $95. You may e ble to find a used one for a Chevrolet. Larry
