I don't know what the deal is with the 1968 CSM, but I have two copies and both of them are coming apart at the binding.

 

Same here on one of my 68's...

 

I discussed this issue with Bill Sandy as mine too are crap. He said it was a one year change in vendors binding glue issue. Apparently GM learned a lesson quick and went back to what worked.
