Assembly manual want to buy

Was wondering if anyone has seen an assembly manual (Product Information Manual) for the 1972 Toronado? Recently acquired a fine original 72 and would like to find an assembly manual. I've found them immensely helpful with my 1970 GT's. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Search the For Sale Classifieds. You might PM Hairy Olds, he generally has the best PIM manuals.

Well I do not have a 72 E-body manual and I have never herd of one in captivity.
Big car manuals and E-bodies are fairly rare.

Thanks for the input. They do make them as I have one for 1970 and I see here there are files here for previous years. Please keep me in mind should you run across one in your travels! Thanks!

There were "assembly manuals" for every year and model. They are just a collection of all the engineering drawings GM used to assemble the car on the assembly line. Unfortunately, as Paul noted, few have survived. The most popular applications (ie, A-body cars) have been collected and reprinted. Full size and E-body cars not so much. The ones that are available today are the only ones that have been found and reprinted to date. Paul has done a tremendous job of cleaning up the less-than-ideal prints. Even his are not always complete as some pages have been lost to time. GM was in the business of selling new cars. After a few years there was no reason to pay to store these paper documents.

Thanks for your reply, and your valuable insight all over this site! I like to think that somewhere in the bowels of GM they have a dusty archive room full of examples of each and every assembly manual, and then some, just waiting to be discovered and revealed.

I have a very nice set of Engineering Standards (3 heavy blue binders) and Materials and Processes Standards (2 heavy maroon binders) along with a Ternstedt Division binder full of interesting information that I've gathered over the years...good stuff for a certain type of "enthusiast"!
