1904 Jim Beam Decanter

1904 curved dash 1972 75th anniversary Jim Beam decanter. This is one of the nicest decanters I have seen and I own a few. The base is what gives it a kick over the other decanters for sale elsewhere.
The decanter is empty where as a full one is less in value. The original seat was cracked and poorly repaired but I had a good spare with an excellent core stopper in stock.

$125.00 plus shipping

If you don't mind me asking, why would an empty one be worth more?

From what I'm told by decanter collectors is the liquor can weaken the decanter and possibly discolor them.

Now that's what I like.

It's a booze bottle shaped like a car.

If you tried that nowadays, you'd be hit with protests from victims of drunk driving and you'd have to attach a trigger warning.

That reminds me: It's almost time for a drink.

I'm not a collector of anything but that just has the cool factor. I would have also thought it would have been worth more full.
Although if I owned it, it would be empty as well. Not that I drink but I'd just have to do the taste test for authenticity purposes and get the added value Haha.

Now that's exciting. I can buy a full decanter, drink it, and then sell the empty one for a profit. Drinking has never been profitable before!

Dangers of Keeping FULL Bottles
You Should NOT Keep Alcohol In Your Decanters For Several Reasons:

It Is ILLEGAL To Sell Liquor Without a License
Alcohol Will Eat The China Bottle From The Inside and Ruin The Decanter
Full Collectible Decanters DO NOT Sell For More
The Cork Will Dry Out and Shrink
The Alcohol WILL Go Bad
A Large Collection can be a FIRE HAZARD to keep in your home
Full Bottles Are Much Heavier and Can Cause Shelves To Collapse
Whiskey Does Not Age in Decorative Decanters-It Won't Get Better So "USE IT OR LOOSE IT"
Also One Other Major Consideration to Remember: If you display your collection where it is accessible to minors they may swap the alcohol for another liquid knowing you will never be the wiser

That's the only one I've ever seen with the display base and manual. I already have two and now you're making me think about a third one!

Glenn I have a few and this is my first since 78 that I've owned one with the base. A day after I bought this one I found another on craigslist and bought that one also.
I'm sure we can make deal on this.

1) Alcohol doesn't typically go bad, but it sounds as if it is leaching "bad" stuff from the decanter as it eats the insides.

2) No whiskey (or any other liquor) ages after it is removed from the barrel. This isn't wine, it's whiskey.
