1968 442

Car is almost done. Just need the original Radio, What do you think?

Looks great ! I hope the dash isn't to hacked up from the aftermarket radio .

Why do they always add the stripe ? They never put it in the right spot.

The 68 stripe is a one year only option that was included in the W30 but could be optioned as well. It required moving the numerals rearward. In 68 and 69 the fenders were pierced at the assembly line and not delivered by Fisher that way. Obviously on an original non stripe car the numerals aren't in the correct location for this to work. A lot of people don't want to go through the hassle of welding up the old holes and drilling new ones. I know of at least one Canadian 442 that is a documented stripe car that the numerals are in this location too.

Yep, I'm assuming you are referring to DR. Dans white '68 with the red stripe? I also have a documented willow gold w/ black stripe Canadian '68 with the stripe in the "wrong" spot from the factory.

Dr. Dans was the one. I didn't remember about your's but now that you mention it I think I remember you commenting on an ROP thread about it.
