Glade Green '69 Post Coupe Resurrected

Back in January, I submitted a request in the "Cars Wanted" forum to purchase a Code 57, Glade Green, 4-speed, Factory A/C 4-4-2 like the one I drove the Summer of '69 when I was 16 years old. I received one response from Patton Glade in Texas who knew of a car in Northern Illinois that wasn't for sale, but the owner might be willing to part with it. Several phone calls, emails and texts later, I ended up making a deal with the owner and purchasing a Model 4477, Code 57, 4-speed, factory A/C car that was in pieces. Two trips to Northern IL to retrieve the car and all the parts (the engine, trans, interior, glass, wheels, tires, etc were not attached to the car) along with eight days on the road, 4,500 miles and a couple grand in gas now have the car and parts back in North Carolina where it is being reassembled. Our target date for completion is August 15th of this year, but some suppliers have put parts on back order that could affect that date (Legendary Interiors is telling me September for the front seat covers). I thought I would post a few pics of the progress to date and will continue to do so as the build progresses. Thanks for looking! Buddy

Most of the exterior trim is on

Trunk is detailed with a mat

Rear bumper and emblems installed

Engine is installed

A/C components are mostly installed

Side mirror is installed

Rear axles are ready for brake hardware which just arrived

Gas tank installed; differential is done

M20 transmission is installed

Parking brake cables installed.

Transmission linkage is ready to install

Engine installed

I have to say I am a super fan!!

From a glance our cars look the same.

Looks like a car Greg G was restoring several years ago. By memory he was using lots of NOS parts.

'69 Glade Green 4-4-2

You are correct; this is the car I bought from Greg. It does have a lot of NOS and original parts. It also was missing a lot of parts. Thanks Ryan!

Without cussing. I absolutely love that color on that car. There are certain colors that really show how good a car looks. To me that is one of them. Beautiful car. F 👑 beautiful car.
Good for you. Glad you got what you wanted and are giving it the love you are!!!

It's not easy being green. Ask Kermit

That's quite a list of cars you have. Are they all still in your stable?

I agree the 68 and 69 always looked good in the original dark green metallic.
Not all colors work on all car body lines its a interesting topic.

It’s not quite as golden as the pics

Sparky in Milwaukee did his magic on the Rochester Quadrajet. Looks like it’s made of Gold (cost like it too!)

Started out pretty rough.

King Midas edition

Of course, this had to be repaired

I need this guide!!

I have not had much success finding the driver’s side glass channel guide that the glass sits in. I do believe the post cars are different from hardtops and verts. Any help would be appreciated!!

Buddy

N34 Steering Wheel

Of course, I had to have a nearly perfect N34 $teering wheel.

Thanks to Dave A. for helping me score This wheel!

Buddy

4 doors would have the same channel just shorter. You could probably weld 2 of them together.

Very nice! The hood looks like its dripping wet, beautiful work.

Envious of your motivation with your fleet. I feel overwhelmed with the three I have.

Progress made

Went to the restoration shop yesterday. Brakes are finally done after RE-sourcing backordered part for the rear. Quadrajet is sitting atop the engine now. Finally found a channel for the D/S door glass thanks to one of our members!

Sparky’s rebuilt carb installed.

Front disc brakes done.

Rear brakes (all of them) DONE!

Seats

Started tearing down the buckets. Ordered new buns, side aprons and seat backs along with headrest locks and seat release buttons from OPGI. New headrests and hides from Legendary going on. I’m trying to decide whether I want to tackle this myself or have a professional do it. I want them to look like the ones Rambo did so I might want to go pro! More later.

This is what I hope the finished project looks like!

Not horrible to begin with

Everything looked pretty decent for 54 year old seats

Springs and burlap look pretty good

Removing 100+ hog rings will take its toll on your hands

Looks like this one may have been “home” to something. There were about a dozen shells in there.

The 1969 Glade Green 4-speed Post Coupe is running and nearing completion. I have the headliner and seat covers to be installed (thanks Legendary for a 10 month wait on the covers), windshield and back glass to install, tidying up the dash, complete assembling the front clip and charging the A/C to go. Hoping to have her on the road by Christmas! I also need to rebuild the W/S wiper motor and have chosen Steve Hackel in IL for that task...thanks to posts on this website. Turns out it was the relay; motor is fine!

Good luck with the seat covers. That's a beautiful car. You can't go wrong with the original black interior.
