What am I building?

Howdy. The car is a black on black '69 Supreme. I'm not sure what the build I'm going for would be called. From the little I've read it seems more like pro-touring, but I'm told by people that it's pro street because of the blower through the hood. This car will be built for the Silver State Classic and maybe some other open road racing and autocross a couple times a year, but daily driver for most of the good weather months. I''ll list what I'm doing and maybe some of you can tell me what thiss might be classified as.

455 with 8-71 on top(aluminum heads and girdle over the mains)
5 speed w/ OD(maybe finishline or tremec)
Hotchkiss front and rear suspension
15 by 8 stock car wheels(need to look up tire ratings still)
rack and pinion steering(switching to manual steering)
4 wheel power discs(probably Baer or Wilwood)
Switching over to rallye pack dash and putting in a boost guage
putting the battery in the trunk
possibly stronger axles and rearend.

I'd say you are building a hybrid or pro-street & pro-touring. Pro-touring would emphasize modern handling & braking characteristics but would usually entail 17" or bigger rims. A blower thru the hood def says pro-street but would usually be tubbed or mini-tubbed. You will have a very unique car when you are done. Good luck with it.

I would classify it as a custom. Why do we have to label custom built cars with these silly names. It's custom because it is build for you, an individual with individual tastes. Some one made up pro-street,pro-touring, restomod and all those other names. Make up a silly name, label your build with it and maybe you will start a new name trend.

I just wanted to know because these classifications often make communication easier. For instance, if I tell you I'm in a Rockabilly band, you probably have a good general idea what to expect of our music. Plus I wanted to know what a pro street and pro touring car are generally supposed to be. Thanks for the info, by the way.

Sounds to me like you are building more of a "Street Fighter" themed build. It is sort of a offshoot of pro-touring because a bunch of the PT builds were more Show-touring. Its all about building a highly functional brute force type of build to beat up on the tracks and street. I'm looking forward to seeing it come together.

After doing some research online it seems noone really knows the definitions for these terms. However it seems ProStreet refers to car made to emulate drag cars and ProTouring are older cars with mods to made them handle and preform like newer cars. It seems like those are the only terms that really matter. I also did not spend much time on this research.
I would say your vehicle fits into the ProTouring class.
