Tips for first time restoration (1970 Cutlass Supreme)

Howdy,
Next spring, I’m gonna be buying a pair of 1970 Cutlass Supremes, one is a parts car, the other is a roller. Being a guy under his 20s and never having any experience on restoring any cars (but having plenty of experience working on cars) some tips would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Welcome.

Make certain that the paperwork is in order with your state DMV requirements before purchasing.

Whatever you think your budget is, take that number and multiply it by 3.

Get one of my Product Information Manuals ( aka assembly manual).
They are a good source of quality info.

Start with the best possible body. Minor rust and minor previous collision damage only. Check the car for hidden rust and collision damage. Before you start check the frame and body to ensure that they are straight.
The body and frame are the foundation of the build.

This! I would also say the same for your time frame and if you cant or aren't willing to spend those new amounts dont start! Theres plenty of partial projects out there for sale from people that eagerly started projects and the money and/or interest runs out before completing who then have to sell everything off usually for a substantial loss.

ya, i definitely have accepted the fact that this isn’t gonna be a cheap or easy project. I’m planning on taking my time with it. Luckily it’s $400 for both cars, so I’m saving money there hahaha

Also I’m gonna say that I’m definitely not going for a showroom car. It’s gonna be what I can manage on a lower wage job.

Don't disassemble both cars, leave the parts on the parts car until you're ready to use them. nothing worse than trying to find a part you know you have.
You'll know where the part is and how it's attached.
