Stripped bare.
Hi everyone,
Just getting into our winter here and thought I'd take the opportunity to smarten our 59/98 Olsmobile out with a fresh paint job and remove some rust from the rear pillar bases.
Well exciting times were had by me to strip and take all that lovely chrome off. Took about a week and a half, a lot of freeze n release and CRC spray for those bolts that were on for 50+ years. Bare essentials left in to get it to the panel shop but they were removed as you can see. Only has dash, steering wheel, handles and front windscreen in. I visited her a few days ago and progress is steady, but good news is they say rust wise, hardly any.
Have new carpet ready, I am re-doing the roof linning or attempting to anyway. Just about to buy new rubber kit and polish up the chrome for re-fit. Oh and have purchased replacement seat material for a re-trim as well, the same as original.
I will show photos if anyone interested of course.
Hvae a good one
John.

Good morning all
Good morning all,
Thanks for the comments. I will see if I can sneak into the painters and take a few progress pics in the meantime in my first few threads there are photos of when I picked the car up originally. I would put them up again here but have to delve a bit as theres been quite a few other photos go on our computer since.
Personal history of the car is a mystery to me, I might speak to the seller and see what he knows, probably little as he would have people in the U.S that pick his car and send it over.
Plans are to take it back to original, or as original as I can make it. Paint code was EEE. I haven't seen any white paint under the few coats of Emerald Mist it has through stone chips etc. I have seen sometimes this model has a white boot lid and white accents along top of rear fenders, top of doors to the top of the headlights. I think I'll keep mine all green.
I've been doing up Australian cars over the years, just tinkering in the back yard stuff and this is my first American car, feel free to point me in the right direction with a few things yoiu guys and girls will know better than I.
Ihave checked out the threads on rubber kits as I want to replace all mine and the threads seem a little old, any advice on the best rubber suppliers to contact?
Thanks
John.

Steele Rubber Products www.steelerubber.com carries a pretty good selection of rubber items for Oldsmobile's.
