The ‘Rona Lisa

Few pics of my Cutlass I’ve had since high school. Started as a copper color with a 350. Had it cheaply painted to current combo. Drove it like that for a long time. Then let it set up a while.

Found a Buick and an Olds 455 in the pick-n-pull in the interim. Once ‘rona turned everything upside down, I got back to work on it. Pulled the 350/350. Put new rings and bearings in the junkyard 455 (68 Toro motor .030 over) added a cam, headers, intake and a Holley with some type of factory HEI. Had Atlantic Coast Converters build the TH350 and added a 3,000 stall converter. Found a 3.42 gear set at the Pick-n-pull and installed them with a “Lincoln Locker”.

Pulled the vinyl top off to try my hand at rust repair. Turned out fair. Currently sporting a primer roof. But made it to a cars and coffee event last month. Hoping to make up a rear exit exhaust system (with cutouts) to replace my turndowns and do a little more fine tuning with the wideband, before bolting up some drag radials and seeing what she’ll run in the 1/4!

Nice work, I hate rust. What are your plans for the top.. Paint or Vinyl ? I wouldn't run too long with just primer as it is porous.

You ought to hit the valve covers with some 0000 steel wool and dish soap to get most of that surface rust off. Nice work.

Plan to paint the top white. Doubt I’d ever get it good enough to be another color.

Yeah valve covers and some other things could use some touch up. Was just excited to have it back on the road burning rubber.
