Got the heater core out today. Figured since I was this far I would pressure check it, it is pretty plugged so I will replace it. I actually removed it to clean the ducting and fan.
I got the HVAC box clean and some assembly is required. When I opened the box up to clean it, a lot of these parts were laying in the bottom, along with a bunch of 30 year old cigarettes.
Not sure where the spring goes, not much info in the manuals.
I am trying to figure out what this switch is called. It is an ARK-LES switch and is connected as shown. The diagrams in the manuals I have do not show it. Any ideas?
Thank you again for looking and have a great weekend,
Steve

Ok, it has been awhile since I give an update. I did install a new top pump, hoses and cylinders, using ATF and the top is working well. Now been talking to convertible top guys trying to ensure I get the right parts, they are listing everything as a C body and their boot has 26 snaps but mine has 22. So I have not been able to get ahold of them. Nothing ordered yet, and not finding any other vendors for a top. Any ideas?
I do not do body work or upholstery so I am working my way through this, What is this stuff behind the trim pieces and should I replace it and if so with what? Dash pad is coming along slowly, this is round 2. Been polishing chrome.
Waiting on a new heater core, in fact I just now got a phone call from USPS and they said sorry it has been stuck in Spokane for the last 19 days and they do not know why, but I should see it by Friday! Not holding my breath.
Thanks for looking.
Starfire is a B body. So is an Impala. C body is Olds 98, Buick Electra and Cadillac. I'd have to look at my parts book to see if there is a difference with the convertible tops. Starfire parade boots are special - they have a pleated area between the seat back and the deck lid (a carry-over to match the seat pleats from the '61s). Some people duplicate it with stitching, but they were originally heat pressed. An Impala boot will work, but won't have the pleating. Parade boots match the interior, not the top fabric.
Thank you Oldsfan, I got the boot, weather striping and some other parts ordered. For the B body.
Got the seats back from the upholsterer, still working on the dash pad and waiting on the heater core, ordered a new one from Summit as the USPS lost the one I bought on epray, I got the address label but no parts. Got the seats back! Working on the HVAC box, there is a pin broken off of the linkage. Trying to locate one of the diaphragms. Slowly working on the dash pad, this is take 2.
You're welcome. You're lucky to have the windshield out and everything open. It was not an easy job.
If you're interested in adding emergency flashers I made a how to schematic with the items needed. It would be easier while everything is open.
I purchased the vacuum actuators from OPG inc. SKU CE05660 ($48.00 each) and this was during covid so it took them almost a year to fill the order (4 pieces)
The only vacuum pot I can't locate is the one for turning the A/C lines on and off behind the inner fender, vacuum actuated valve. OPG usually have one or two on the shelf for the actuator.

Hi Steve, as I said in the other thread, try Old Air Parts. Put "actuator" in the search bar. A lot of different type of actuators come up that will not be listed under Oldsmobile. I ordered it Wed and it is on Fed Ex truck scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday. Hope this helps,
Stephen
