Real One of 504 67 W30 Project

I just picked up this car. Its an old car that's been setting since 1972. Has original Engine and rear end. Parts of the transmission were inside the car. I plan on doing a full resto on the car. The only thing that is missing is the air cleaner. If you know of one for sale please call me. 208-731-7783 The rear end is a 3:90 TH code. The W30 has very little rust. Just a little that is just starting under the rear window. The car is a 4 speed car. I dont have any paperwork on the car, just a mostly complete original car..

Wow! Way cool car. As you begin your restore I hope you have time to create a major build thread and walk us through your project.

There's several members offering 1966-67 parts for sale right now. As you come across things you need I'd encourage you to search for their parts for sale ads or create a parts wanted ad listing what your looking for.

The car is from Eastern Washington state. From what i can see the car is all original. Mostly unmolested. It was last driven in 1972. The man that owned it for about 35 years worked in a junk yard in the early 70's. He was a Olds enthusiast so when a cool Oldsmobile would freshly show up to the junk yard he would buy it. This was one of many he had. He wouldn't drive the cars they would just sit in his backyard. Weird I know but that's what he did. The Man died so the executor of his estate started selling the cars off. To me this car was the crown Jewel so i bought it. It did set outside for years and years and more years. Fortunately Eastern washington is dry dessert so the car is very solid. And in the North west we dont Salt the roads so our cars hold up. The car does need Everything but I believe the car deserves the Best.

What about one of them fraud replica air cleaners?

There are not too many originals around.

Ron Memmer might have one or know where to find one?

Excellent find. Really looking forward to seeing this restoration. Its not everyday someone finds a 67 W30. It seems like the 67 is the forgotten W30. Post some more pics of it when you get a chance.

I checked the rear end last night. The Axle Code is "TH" and I pulled the cover off and it is a 4 Pinion Posi.

Optional trailer hitch... on a W30

:-)

I had heard that '67 W30 OAI holes in the core support were crudely cut, like with a torch... yours look smooth and well done... later production maybe?

Shoudln't the rocker covers be chromed? Maybe they are, under the paint?

Again, I am no expert on this creature, just stuff I have heard.

Ron Memmer had a real '67 OAI air cleaner a while back, you might want to call him.

Good luck with the '67 It's a shame that it got that bad before someone snagged it up. But with a lot of persistence, money, blood, sweat, tears and did I mention money, it can be restored to what level you choose

All the Factory cars I have seen have smooth core support holes. It looks like the holes were stamped by a machine when the core supports were made. The valve covers are chrome plated but someone spray canned the engine for some stupid reason.

Chris, the 504 factory cars had core supports with the OAI holes stamped, so they are nice and smooth. Everyone else, like dealer installs would be rough cut. Third week of February on the cowl means this is a very early one.

Yes, chrome valve covers should be there. But they may have been pulled with the shroud. And the chrome oil fill tube cap.

Here is a pic of the Horn Extension Wire that is unique to the W30 because the horns were relocated to the fenders from the core support. This was don in order to make room for the air induction hoses.

I found the Protecto Plate

I found the protecto Plate in the W30. Does anybody know anything about the dealer? Zone 21 dealer 322 witch is Gene Horn Olds Inc. in El paso Tx?

I would like to contact the Family that ran the dealership in the 60's and see if they have any records on the cars they sold. It would be nice to find a window sticker.

Hey Jonathon,
Is that the same name on the Washington title? Long shot but maybe. That is a military address on the protecto plate. What an awesome find. Also do some research some dealers who lots the Olds stores had other brands in house. Some with even foreign car brands like Nissan or Toyota. Might find some stuff that way. I know the dealership I was body shop manager at had Olds, Chevy, Jeep, and Mitsubishi. Worth some research for sure.

Catch up more soon

Yup, finding that PP is really cool. Fort Bliss is a major base and it's air defense training. Maybe J Mautino was a pilot, and when he was done with his stint in the air force and flew for a major airline retired to Tulsa Oaklahoma, where there is a 77 year old retired AA pilot running for City Council...

Just an hypothesis based on Google searches, but that is how I found an original owner of one of my cars

.....in good fun of course

Great Project! I look forward to following your build. I am finishing up a track pack and using the air cleaner that I held on to since 1969 but I do have some original chrome, bumper cores, cowl vent, etc so be sure to post what you need. May be able to help.
Noticed something interesting...your engine has a red look to it like mine did. I thought mine was wrong but I guess the bronze just fades to red.
Good luck!

w30 Parts

There were alot of the w30 parts in the trunk so i put them back on the car this weekend. I think it looks pretty cool. Both upper ducts are pretty badly broken. If anybody has or knows of any original upper ducts please let me know.

Again, try Ron Memmer
see the phone # above.

If he had the air cleaner maybe the scoops were with it.
