fyi
The car is a 1972. The color is Radiant Green...a one year only 1972 color.
1971 tailights & headlight surrounds are on the car simply because the owner of the car prefers the apprearance of those items. Inspite of those insignificant owner mods the car is awesome.
Keep the pics coming as progress is made. Keep up the good work.

Naw, Joe the 71's design just makes it easier to refinish with less work. I like both designs, but my all time favorite tail light configuration is the 69. I think that blended elegance and functionality together really nicely.
Anyway, I was just curious about the pic that was posted; not being critical at all.
Radiant Green was a color I didn't see a lot of back in 72, but when it showed up (especially when it was clean) it really popped. Too bad we'll never really know how many of that color were produced. I'm guessing that dealer principles had to take a certain number that were mandated by GM, but could order their own color palettes and options based on the local market expectations and proven past sales. If I decide on another 72 project, I might very well go with paint code 36 with a white vinyl top and interior and build it as a driver clone. It will make everyone stare and turn 'green' with envy

I was able to find NOS tail light lenses. I have the 71's in there now. Maybe I will get bored and put the 72 lenses on the car some day??
The grilles , headlight housings , stone shield ,side marker lights ,442 emblems were also new old stock.
The interior is still all OEM original. I found the broadcast card under the factory carpet.

Are you friggin kidding me???
WOW!
Let me just say that again .... WOW!!
I was looking at your documentation when it just struck me. We both have cars that were built at Lansing (no big deal right?), but it gets better. Out of the hundreds of thousands of cars produced and still surviving today???
YOURS and MINE were built almost side by side.
My car - 3G87H2M208783, Body 442325 Built 04/10/72
Your car - 3J67KM209985, Body 443164 Built 04/11/72
Really cool! They are only 839 body numbers apart and 1202 VINs apart. Gives a pretty decent approximation of how many cars were produced within a given 1-2 day time frame at Lansing.

I have been thinking "what to do" with the docs. I personally like the idea of putting them back as found. Then again I would like to keep them out for show and tell. Or put copies in plastic and put them in the car or ???

i framed my buildsheet from the 1970 Cutlass. It cost some, but it will never deteriorate. The other records found are in plastic bags i a metal filing cabinet, that i refer to when needed.

snails pace progress
Well I was finally able to get back to the 442 project this week. I went with the 225/70/14 radial TA on SSI wheels. Not my first choice but these fit in the budget. Only one is on the car so far. Hope to get the other 3 installed soon

The 235/75/14 i wanted to buy were $277each plus freight and mounting
The radial TA under $600 for four mounted and balanced
