My 65 Cutlass
My 65 Cutlass
I don't know if this classifies as major rebuild but it has been a lot of work so far to get this old car in good running condition.
I've had to go through the suspension 4 new springs, all front control arm bushings, idler arm, center link, 4 KYB shocks, 1 1/4 sway bar on front.
I've rebuilt the carb and converted to electric choke, replaced plug wires (still had the originals) cap, rotor, changed valve cover gaskets, replaced leaking thermostat housing and thermostat, changed all the hoses (most where original) flushed system and put in anti freeze (had almost pure water and lots of rust) radiator cap, replaced battery cables, added a K&N air filter, reproduced a factory looking battery tie down and adjusted the Switch Pitch torque converter.
Serviced the fluids engine oil, P.S., and rear end.
I've rebuilt the brakes including shoes, wheel cylinders, 1 hose, springs and turned the drums (still had the factory riveted shoes on it and the drums where still stock size) then cleaned the M/C and flushed the brake fluid.
I installed a set of Thornton exhaust manifolds and had a new 2 1/2 exhaust system built with the long body stainless MagnaFlow mufflers, it's real quiet now until you mash the throttle.
I repaired the stock radio and added an FM converter, got the factory floor shifter to work again and for Christmas I added a Grant wood steering wheel.
There is also a whole load of small things that I've replaced and this is just a start. Got to sell one of my Harley's before I can do more.
