My frame was painted in POR15 when I got it. I hated the shiny finish of it so I blasted it to rough it up and painted it with chassis black. I like the chassis black much better. My only regret was not spending a little more time to smooth out the frame with body filler

Just a comment on POR-15; I wouldn't recommend top coating with it (even though some of their products are supposed to be top coats). I always use it as a base instead of primer on raw parts like the frame, control arms, brackets, etc. then wet sand it and top coat it with something like chassis black. My '69 frame is going on 25 years with this treatment and still looks pretty much as good as the day I finished it. If applied correctly, POR-15 is ridiculously tough and will last. It seals the metal better than typical paint. One thing it doesn't like is UV exposure so I would recommend always top coating it for durability. I agree in its 'natural state' it's too shiny. Chassis black is a much better choice for an original look.
