Fuel injection/carburatored fuel tank

Any idea on being able to use the same fuel tank for carburators and fuel injection? This looks like you could use the original sending unit and block off fuel pump for later.

Not trying to be smart, but why not just get the right tank for the application?

So I don't have to spend more money than I need to. If it works for both why not.
