console shifter question

Guys, this may be the wrong place to ask but we are converting a bench cutlass to a floor shift/bucket car. we have all the parts but not sure how the shifter cable attaches to the transmission. By that I mean does it lay flat, run forward into the tunnel or does it go straight down through a hole in the bracket and tunnel? We need to drill in the right place. Thanks. Pictures=good.

That helps a lot. So it's forward and I guess it lays down and comes back then through the slot in the end of the bracket?
