Who wants to build a motor. FINALLY got it out of the machine shop. Jusat need to blast some more parts and get them painted this weekend. For those of you who might be interested, I will be throwing an "engine building" get together for this. If you want details let me know. Mainly going to bbq and have some people over to shoot some bull with while working on stuff. This will be the 18th and at my place in San Antonio.

But you can't pick up Rudy's at the one by your house, it's one of the original 3 and their chopped meat isn't as good as the spin off stores lol! They don't have chopped beef at that one! Just chopped everything mixed up together!

Lisa isn't a huge fan of Rudy's so I could bring back a franchise and she'd still divorce me lmao!

Here are some pics (thanks from AH64Pilot for the idea on the GoPro cam) from when we started to put it together.

Danny (70Wcars): Racer Gray shirt
Faz (Faz442): White shirt
Chris (friend of mine who likes mustangs) Black Shirt
Me (Sicky Olds): Gray Life Saver shirt.

It was a lot of fun hanging out and working on the motor, thanks to Danny for being a big help and to Chris who, even though a Ford guy, was a great help on jumping in and learning and helping (this was his first engine build).

We ran into a SLIGHT hiccup with the installation andthat was my cam was too tiny for the new pistons. After talking with Danny i decided to get Cam #400165 from Supercarsunlimited.com.

I used to have a Pontiac emblem (Arrowhead) on my right shoulder...my wife hated it. I finally had it covered up with some tribal stuff. LOL! Wonder what she would say if I had Oldsmobile tattooed on my arm haha!

Totally tempted to get the H/O tattooed on one shoulder and the Rallye Tatted on my other shoulder with their emblems behind it lol. That w-30 tat would be sweet though

Hey AH64Pilot and Sicky Olds: Y'all gonna' be able to make the Fredericksburg get together November 16-18th? Probably 15 Oldsmobiles caravaning down from the DFW area (I've asked LadyRob to come) on old State Highway 281; less traffic, better scenery, and almost 4 lane all the way. Staying at the Fredericksburg Inn & Suites (830-997-0202) on 201 S. Washington St., about 1 block south of the Nimitz Museum (one of the many attractions). Places for the wives/SO's to shop, lotsa' places to dine. Noon cruise on Saturday for BBQ at the Full Moon Inn (800-997-1124), then on to a winery, then on to Luckenbach. Dinner in the Conference Room at the hotel Saturday night (about $20/per/person) with a raffle to get money for charity (bring something to donate for the raffle) and just "hang" and have a good time. This will be our 3rd year, and it is always a grand time. Hope all of you can make plans to join a bunch of Olds lovers.
Aron

Aron I'm going to try to make it. In fact if the timing is right we might have all three of our cars out there. We'll have to see. Of course I'll trailer the silver car down to Austin and then caravan from there. I can't afford the gas to drive it the whole way lol!

Also, I invited you to a group just for Texas Oldsmobile guys...would you post the fredericksburg event in the group? I am trying to get a consolidated list of Texas events so we can all select which ones we can make, thanks! I think the invite is in your pm folder.

First off... This is my Restore on the Rallye thread, lets not highjack my glory with side convo . But seriously...We are talking about here in the STOC to make an appearance (i think thats the one Bill is emailing about). But i def plan on making it and most likely BOTH my cars will make an appearance there (depending on how they run and if i save up enough gas money LOL)

Back to the subject on hand... Parts are ordered except for push rods (cheaper through auto stores) Danny should be getting them any day now and we will have another get to gether . Also carb should be done and good to put on the engine.

Think you could make it to the dragstrip on Sep. 14? I'll front you a room, but you have to make your own breakfast

So far it's Danny, me, Catfish, and my dad. Joe will come if he's not out of town for business. My buddy Chad will have his '68 Camaro pro-street out there as well. I spent all last week helping him get it together for that weekend.

Did some final tuning on the car... For now at least, and drove it to work today.

Ended up getting a new distributor (pertronix d1100)
new exhaust shows up next week as well.
Now I am contemplating on if i want to paint it different or not, been fiddling with the idea of inverting the paint scheme, mainly cause i have always wanted a black a-body
Here is an example on how it would look
Black Rallye 350: the only thing that i will do is change the gold to either the yellow or the orange and keep the pinstriping the other color.
