Got started on the wifes convertible. It's gonna be a challenge as it was hit hard in the *** end and has bowed the left rear quarter out about 1 1/2 inches and has substantial rot on every panel. Will keep you posted.

To be honest,I worked on the red one every day and night as I was out of work for medical reasons for 6 months. So I just took my time and worked very slowly and carefully for about 12 hours a day.Although maybe half that time was spent sitting on my *** because of pain. Can't do my day job on pain killers but I can space out in my garage all day, hahaha.

This car had holes in every panel that were stuffed with paper, window screen and about 100 lbs of Bondo. And some of the Bondo wasn't mixed properly and was still soft.I couldn't believe it.Don't know how the paint stayed on.

And on top of it all I just bought a 71 Pontiac Firebird.Sat in a garage for the past 10 years. An all original numbers matching car that goes like a bat out of hell.It has some surface rust. The engine and Trans have 1700 miles on them since a rebuild,I have the receipts.60k miles on the car.All new suspension. Many NOS parts with the car to restore it including a steering wheel and the AM/FM stereo from 1971.Cost ,just $4500.I hit the jackpot on this one.Already been offered $10,000 for it.Not for sale.

Well,I thought the car was finished, but,on it's maiden voyage the oil pressure dropped to zero like a rock and before I could shut it down the damage was done. The person who rebuilt it did a less than stellar job.He didn't replace the oil pump. The crank was saved, but new bearings and a polish of the crank, new oil pump and intermediate shaft were mandatory.Put the engine back together and noticed a clatter from the top end and skipping.Took off the valve covers and found 4 bent push rods.so,took the heads off,the lifters and cam are fine.Unfortunately, whoever built this engine used junk valve guides and cross threaded 4 rocker arm studs. So now I am looking for 4 rocker arm studs, that's right,STUDS.this engine doesn't have the shaft,it has studs.I will post in the parts wanted section.Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't find these anywhere.I do have some nice pictures of my wife's candy green paper weight.

CTSPLICER-I was looking at your nice firewall, question did you put a ground strap from the back of the motor to the firewall? That grounds the electrical on the body. Just checking buddy! Very nice car and work too.

did you do the priming in your garage? nice work. did you butt weld the quarter or lap weld? Just curious if you can see the weld from the inner trunk. I need to make this same repair on the driver side and need to perfect my butt welds.
