My plan is to build a more race friendly car. Its not a 442 or #matching car so anythings possible . It has a small block chevy 350 and th350 trans. That will be replaced with a more suitable combo. Anyone in the market for a 350 chevy?
I kinda got the itch for some drag racing and I don't want to use my 72 for that, its just a very nice cruiser. So I figure on building a driver that can be a weekend racer. Going to the track with my wife was a lot of fun (by the way, this car is hers) . She is gona learn to work on it some and then she can race it too. She will have the final say as to the colour combo , probably silver with black 442 stripes. I'll get some better pics soon.

Think of your 72 as the proving grounds for all the work you'll be doing to this one. Where did you pick that up? Is the body/frame ok? Guessing it was a local car so you probably can even get the historical data on it too.

It needs quarters and some small patches , frame isn't to bad but i'll know better when things start coming apart. The 403 I had for a few years come out of old greeny the parts car. It ran very nice so I might build it up a bit.

All areas you've gained experience and expertise in Henry. You going to buy one of the Part's Place metal/glass W25 hoods for it, or just go with a pin on if it's going to be a racer? If you're just going for a track car, you can get an entire front clip made of fibreglass for it. Also doors and bumpers. That would lighten it by several hundred pounds which would be great for a track car.

You gotta like it when the wife is into turning wrenches also. My wife is the same. She put our motor back together (with a little supervision of course ) & eventually wants to do some weekend racing as well.

I'll see what happens as time and money permit if I buy a repo hood or find a good deal elsewhere . I won't be doing to much on this project yet , kinda stuck in the planing stage .

YIKES!!!! I think I'll have to go from the inside....

So the last pics show you haven't gotten around to slathering a 'skim' coat of bondo 1/2" thick on yet... Looks great Henry, but you're scaring the crap out of me with the power window stuff now.

Am I the only one who noticed the jack stand made from an old Ford rearend housing. I still have a pair of those made form the first rear end I trashed in my 40 Ford in 1964. Those things will support anything but you have only one height to use them.

Didn't notice that Glenn. They look like they're tall enough to work under the car though. At a guess I'd say 28" or so? Got a better view of them looking at the trunk with almost no floor.

Looks like the floor pan braces are in, just waiting for the floor pans? This car owes you big time.

Great work on the quarters , those outer wheelhouses looked dodgy too? I saw thevtrunk floor at first thought you were putting huge tubs in looking forward to following along

Good eye , yup those are ford axle's . I use some big threaded rods to make them adjustable .
