Post 1969 442 clone

I bought the car a couple of years ago, my Uncle owned it for almost 30 years. It started out life as a Brown Cutlass S. He made it into a clone. After a bunch of health issues, I bought the car from my Aunt after he passed. I wasn’t planning on buying it but having known part of its history, I decided to buy it. Everything on the car was either original and/or worn out LOL. I also have a pro touring 68 camaro that is pretty modernized. I told myself I was going to leave this one semi-stock…….. Well, that didn’t happen. .

Here are the before pics.

Hoping to get the car back next month

First upgrades were C6 corvette brakes front and rear and Detroit Speed coilover suspension front and rear. I drove it for a few months with the original Rocket 350 and Turbo 350 but they were tired. . Fun cruiser but I knew I wanted to take it to the next level. One thing led to another and the car was re-wired with an American Autowire Classic Updated harness, Dakota digital VHX gauges and a Gen V Vintage air AC unit. Unplanned metal repairs invcluded a new truck pan and drivers toe board pan. the firewall was smoothed and new seat components were ordered from Legendary. I took the LS3 form my camaro and added a 4L70E And painted them the proper 1969 colors. The. Majority of the work is being done at a buddies shop in Deland, FL

Nice. Looks like mine, sort of. At a glance, you need a glove box emblems and you need to swap out the trunk trim for the correct thin edge piece. Is that a drum brake M/C with an aftermarket disc setup?

I have no problem with people cloning these as they can be authenticated in seconds by looking at the VIN.

Post Engine pictures

I wanted an original look, so I went with engine paint from Thortons and Fusick. Holley components on the LS3.

. So happy I did.

I bought a new wood trim piece and have the 442 emblem for the glove box. What is the the trunk trim piece you are referring to? I am still learning a lot from these A- body cars.

That is an incredibly clean engine installation. Love that you stayed w/ the 400G bronze. Looks like plenty of room to add the OAI hoses and scoops.

When I decided to rebuild my SBO with a stroker kit, I also strongly considered an LS swap but ultimately decided I wanted to keep it Olds powered. However, if I were to ever LS swap a BOP, I'd do like you have done... which is a visual tribute to the original powerplant. Excellent install, nice work.
