Nice to see the car moving forward.
Are they going to paint the car together or appart?
They have taken the car apart and paining it apart. Inside the fenders will be black, underside of hood is black, the rest will be Willow Gold. The stripe will be done using Phoenix Graphics stencils. The paint is PPG and mixed by PPG to ensure colour accuracy.
They will be done in about two weeks, after all the coats are done, clear, and reassembly of the body. Then I will bring it home and install all the parts. I will try to get as much done in two weeks as I can. The headliner will be farmed out along with the front end alignment, all the rest is me and i look forward to it. As I complete things I will post new pics.

Before I brought them the template I did the measurements from the PIM and they were the same, so I gave the shop the photocopy of the PIM page and also the pages from the post here on CO with the white fenders and red rally w36. So they have really learned a lot about Oldsmobiles from me and my research. They were used to Chevy and Ford.

I added the reproduction '69 OAI set up to my '69 442 and can highly recommend it. It ain't cheap but every car guy that notices the scoops under the bumper asks what they're for. Everyone assumes they're aftermarket for brake cooling. No one can believe it when you pop the hood and they see the dryer duct hoses going to the air cleaner. Huge wow factor in the engine compartment.
Also, it's really nothing more than a technicality but the system was always referred to by Olds as OAI (Outside Air Induction). Big difference between that and "Ram Air" which was pretty much a joke that the other manufacturer's used that term.

A couple of new pics to post, underside of hood, inside of fenders, and cowl and dash. They have been painted a satin black. The shop was supposed to paint the car this week, I hope it happens in the next two days, I have to get it reassembled as we want to put our house up for sale and move further north with more land, and a lake. Of course the new place WILL have a bigger garage and a hoist added to my specs. Anyhow the house cannot be viewed with car parts in the garage and the entire basement. I must get him to move on it, it was only supposed to be one month back in May, now September and I will still have the interior assembly to do.
One positive was the Dynamat I ordered back in May from TPP, still on back order, so I cancelled and found that Walmart of all places sells it online, who knew. It arrived after a two day wait !!! Full set, hood, trunk, doors floor, the whole set and it was about 70 bucks cheaper than TPP. I'll take that any day.

A Freakin Men. Why people get so butt hurt over something so pointless. Nice to see an update on your car.
The progress is finally at the point that makes me a bit happier. The car has been painted 3 coats of base (willow Gold) clear still to come and the passenger side stripe is now on. I think it looks good but I will wait to see the critics point of view !! The car should be back in my hands some time next week if all goes as I hope. Here are some pics.

Well it is about time@!!
My car is finally done and coming home tomorrow. Much awaited and a bit late in the season, but it is done. I will post a load of pics tomorrow.

The only turkeys have been in body shops I've dealt with.
As a side note I bought some tail lights from Mr.Green, nice guy always thought he was a stand up guy, fair price great looking lights.
First time I saw John I was carrying a power seat to the wreckers office to pay and he was picking parts off a '68 Cutlass. That must be forty years ago. We became friends later on. Still meet about once a month.
Thanks, it's really dusty and under artificial light the colour is different than natural light. I am happy with the result. Today I have put the dynamat on the floor after a complete wash if the interior. Tomorrow will be the dynamat on the roof. Then the wiring harness goes in and the carpet on top. The carpet is much easier on my old knees. Lots to do, but I want the majority of the interior to be complete before the cold weather hits Ontario.

Thank you, I love the colour personally. The parts are all in labeled Ziploc bags and in area category Rubbermaid containers. The body shop lost a few parts, but oh well !!
Thank you to all that have replied. This forum has the best members, very supportive and always have sage advice. I love the way everyone is ready with parts, mechanics whatever the requirement, that is why it is worth keeping these cars alive, it is a great community.

It has been a while since I posted, The headliner is in and looks great, I think its well worth the money to have a pro do it, it was done in about 4 hours and he knows his stuff. I have also put in the vent windows and the quarter windows and all the associated hardware. The only setback was the quarter fuzzies I bought from Legendary Interiors. The fuzzy material started to peel from the rest of the piece. Cheaply made, I cleaned up the originals and I will use them.
I will post some pics Saturday and possibly with the door glass in place as well.
I have installed all the side glass, drivers and passenger. The track and adjustments were fairly straight forward not too involved. Tomorrow will be the steering column and front bench. I took a couple of pics, the white scrap insulation is just to view the glass colour. The white insulation showing the green tint Drivers door, vent and main glass Passenger side Carpet with bench seat fastening holes cut out as well as shifter. Headliner
It has been slow progress here, but not much left to do on the car. Tomorrow the hood hinge springs will be going on, a two man job I have the assistance of a neighbor that is a mechanic so it should go smooth. After that it is just a few wiring connections and the steering column going in. I have a lot of time until warm weather comes back so I am not going to rush things.
I hope to have a job offer before Christmas, a dream job, working in a restoration shop doing assembly and wiring work. Here's hoping, it would be a second career for me, as long as my body holds out I will do it.

It has been a month and a half since I did any work on my car. I couldn't sit at home anymore so I took a job with an online used car dealer, easy work, I get to drive Mercedes, Porsches, Maserati's etc to dealers to have work done and safety inspects. Easy work, I love cars so its a no brainer. Plus it has been COLD! Anyway, I brought all the bright trim, (stainless and aluminum), in to get polished and ant imperfections fixed. Glad I did it turned out great, I have included a few photos. This guy is also making a casting of my trunk molding that is pot metal and pitted and missing fastening tabs. He is going to make a new one out of brass and then chrome it, and I have seen some of the work he has done up close, not photos and the quality is amazing. When done I will post those photos, and I am contemplating having him make up a few to see if there is any one that is interested. The good thing about the brass is it will not pit like the pot metal. stainless wrapped up some of the aluminum from around the door fender stainless
The restored trim will look great against the willow. The trunk trim might be one of the single most talked about trim pieces on CO! It seems every month or so there is new thread about that piece!

Yes I considered the consiquences if my other side came out. I figure if i followed through i may never get to drive it. Seriously, there are a ton of shops here that take you for a ride. The thing that pmo was i wasn't looking for a bargain or cheap job. Oh well, it's done finally and a few finishing touches and it will be on the road in the summer.

Have him save the mold. You can probably make a good portion of the money back that you spent for it in referrals. They aren't reproduced and everyone needs one.
Well the cold weather is slow to go away but I have had a few days to work on the car. The brakes have been bled and the hood hinge springs put back in so the under hood wiring has been connected. Next will be priming and hand rotating the engine to get all the parts lubed for start up. It has been too long since I have heard the sweet sound of an Oldsmobile engine, can't wait but i want to do this slowly as to avoid dry metal on metal.
I hope everyone is ready to start up the toys and enjoy the long awaited driving season.(Long awaited here in Ontario at least).
Well Ontario has gone from winter to summer, no complaints here but it went from the 40's to mid to high 80's.
We spent a week in Jamaica and I think that's what changed the weather!
I put the trim pieces on the hood, the front and back windshields will go in this week then in for an alignment and the stainless trim will go on, except the trunk piece, that is being cast this week and should be ready for pickup in a few. The town I live in had a "good riddance covid " type party last night with classic cars, and boy did they come out in droves. There must have been a couple hundred cars. Great to see, considering we are at 2.10 a litre, so in gallons that number is multiplied by 4.5 that's 9.45 . Wow, as a kid I remember my dad filling up our 69 Pontiac, pulling our 20 foot trailer, with Esso extra at .49 cents a gallon. Anyway the price of gas won't deter our love of that Oldsmobile thunder. More as it gets done, good summer to all and hope to see some at the National meet.

Thank you. Yes, Thursday is our regular cruise night, usually 75 to 100 cars. There are some shows in Toronto and Woodbridge, 20 to 30 minutes away, that get 200 to 250 regularly.
Outer band was too thin. Check the measurements on yours first.
