Seat covers for 66 Olds Dynamic

Hey guys,
Any idea where to get the front bench seat cover for my 66 Dynamic?
Legendary says they don't do these, and I want something nice that closely match the original covers.

They cant be gotten cause they arent made by anyone but can be sewn up by an upholstery shop as original. Easy to do if all vinyl but if factory cloth you will need to search for correct material. Possibly SMS in Oregon may have something close.

seat covers

Try www.smsautofabrics.com they probably have the original materials. Then you'll have to a shop recover the seats.

A vinyl job will be easy. The 60s Madrid vinyl ("Morocceen" in Olds-speak) is common to all GM except Cadillac and thanks to the Chevy market is readily available in all the colors. A good trim shop should be able to source the vinyl and stitch the cover for you in the exact factory pattern.

Now, if it is a cloth and vinyl, to match the cloth you'll have to check with SMS or other NOS supplier. They will want the trim code off the data plate and will send a swatch of what they have. I'd be willing to bet it will be an exact match. Won't be cheap though- last stuff I bought from them was $85 a yard about 6 years ago.

Get the trim shop to estimate yardage to do both the front and rear seats and order enough to do both. 45 year old cloth is bound to be brittle.

It never ceases to amaze me how people will not check locally on jobs like this, before trying to order it reproduction and finding it's unavailable. Not unusual to find a local shop can do the job cheaper. You'll pay one to install the repro covers anyway.

Thanks guys, this is great info. Wow, checked out the SMS website and it looks like they've got their stuff together.

Feeling confident that I can get the seats done close to original. Just need to find a good upholstery shop in town.

Cheers,
Rich
