This is making me Blue - 1970 Blue dash color match
Struggling to color match an ashtray and glovebox doors to the existing dash color. I am figuring out that my blue dash is a 1970 only blue, it has been tough to find these OEM pieces the the proper shade. Since there is nothing I can remove from the dash to have a color match done I am wondering if anyone has these 1970 pieces they would sell or if there is an SEM paint formula available? Thanks for the help...
I believe I have a 70 blue glovebox door. I will try to dig it out to check the condition. I may have the ashtray door also. Worst case scenario I have the lower plastic dash in poor shape. I might be able to remove a piece so you can use it for color matching. I’ll let you know what I find.
I found the glovebox door but not the ash tray door. The glovebox door looks like the paint is faded on the front but the area that doesn't have grain the paint looks good. The back piece is damaged around the lock area but it is a separate piece. $25 plus shipping. I also have the rest of the dash but both pieces are damaged. I could remove a small piece that has good color for color matching. $10 plus shipping.
It is very common that the glove box and ash tray doors do not match that great from the factory and the blue interior is the worst at this. You are never going to be able to match it perfect. The only way you are going to have a good match is to paint all of it.
