1954 Oldsmobile Starfire Hydraulic to Full Electric Window Conversion

Hello everybody, I am restoring a Oldsmobile 98 Starfire and was wondering if there any kits to change the hydraulic power window system and Convertible top to fully electric. I found a set for a 1954 Buick on NuRelics and am not sure if those would fit for a 54 Olds. This probably is a long shot but has anyone converted the power retractor for a convertible top to electric aswell? All answers appreciated. Thank you

I don't know for sure but the doors, side glass and windshields are the same. You might check with a glass company to make sure. If this is correct it should be a direct swap. Makes me wonder why they didn't list Oldsmobile along with Buick.... Tedd

I can check my shop manual but I was under the impression the power windows in 54 were electric. I don't know of any conversion to convert a top to an electric system. I think that would be close to impossible.

Maineolds' 49 got converted to electric before he got it, though after living with an all-electric scissortop 73 I can't understand why anyone would consider it an improvement.

I've got a 1955 Olds 98 four door parts car. It has electric power windows on the front doors. I wonder if a 1955 2 door would have power windows that would fit your 1954?

John I believe the 98 4 doors rear windows come straight up where as the 2 door radius up from back to front and I would think they would have different regulators.

Linkkjm, are you sure that you have hydraulic rear windows? I thought 53 was the last of the hydraulic windows, could be wrong on this but rear electric windows were uncommon on super 88's I know..... Tedd

My shop manual shows electric windows for power windows. Power windows out of a 55 should fit a 54 but I don't know about the front windows from a 4 door working on the doors on a 2 door. My guess is they would fit.

After looking through my parts books I can tell you this .
( I'm assuming by the use of the word " Starfire " that this is a "98" convertible .)
In 1954 the 98's had hydraulic windows and the 88 ' had electric windows .
The biggest problem with interchange is that the 98 " Starfire" is a "C" body .
The 88 models with electric windows are a "B" body .
I doubt if they would interchange , especially the rear quarters .
You are probably best to repair what you have .
