'68 442 / Instrument Cluster Bulbs

This is probably too easy, but I'd like to be certain.
I'm needing to replace my instrument cluster bulbs (speedometer, etc.)
The '68 Service Manual shows:
> bulb # 194 for "Instrument Cluster Lighting - Speedometer"
> bulb # 168 - 2-1/2 C.P. for "Instrument Cluster Lighting - Fuel Gauge & Tell Tale" (Rocket Rally Pac)
A photo of my gauges is attached.
Is bulb 194 used only for the speedo and bulb 168 used for the other two gauges? Or is 168 used for all three gauges?
Thanks.

They will all work...only difference is the wattage.

Hey Tom, hope you are doing well. I know I'm a '69 but...I'm using 194s in speedo & gauges, 168s in tach.

I think the owners manual & the CSM says #168 for a rally pack set up (all). #168 are brighter than #194.

My eyes are getting old.

On my 1969 442 I replaced all of my #194 bulbs with the brighter #168 bulbs [4.9 watts] at 38 Lumen.
Then I discovered the wedge #2825, 5.0 watts and 50 Lumen.
So I replaced all of my #168 bulbs in my 71 CS with wedge #2825.
The #2825 is plug in compatible with #194 and #168

FYI, You can't use LED bulbs on any Dimming circuits such as dash lights.

On my Cutlass supreme the Stock Idiot lights were the brighter #168 Bulbs and the Dimmable lights were the dimmer #194.
Now that they are all #2825, I can see the display much better.

Thanks for the help. 2825's were installed yesterday. Learned the sockets for a couple of the gauges were brittle from age. Those were replaced also.
My future now looks much brighter.

Thanks

Thanks and yes, I checked for some other bulbs at a local NAPA awhile back and they wanted some $ for sure....I guess it's the "convenience" factor there.

Patton, you have to be careful with those bulbs, more watts means more heat. They are ok in most aps, but like your GS heater panel, not so much. Because the housing is plastic and warps from the right size bulb. They do cost more, but all the auto chains have them.

RockAuto has them for $0.16 each in 2 packs.......Hella brand H83220021 Seems to be several brands on the market and prices vary. Sylvania "Long Life" seem to be the most expensive.

The problem with LL bulbs Ralph, is they are not as bright because they have a thicker filament. That's why they're long life!

Thanks for everyone's input into this thread I've been thinking about doing something for a long time because mine are so dim. FWIW I went looking to try and see how many bulbs there are in a 68-69 dash and I came up with 14. If anyone needs bulbs I'll be getting 35 from Jackson as that's the minimum order. It was still $7 less than 20 bulbs would have cost with Amazon Prime.

I'm not sure why but when I tried to put 20 bulbs into the cart it automatically changed the qty to 35. I tried to change it three times. Finally I just bought 35. My total was $13.34 shipped (slow boat from china shipping, I was in no rush). My guess is I should have completely exited the page and re-entered the qty instead of hitting the back button to change it

I am using Safari browser, but did not have same experience.

I can also wait a week, this is a deep winter project anyway and we haven’t had our first snow yet.
