Various '70 Interior Questions
1.) Did the rear speaker become required with the AM/FM stereo radio? Or did it only become required when the 8-track deck was added? Can't seem to find my dealer ordering "pocket book" at the moment.
2.) With the AM/FM stereo AND 8-track deck, is it just a single rear speaker on the passenger side? I have the blue wire running down the passenger side, but it isn't hooked up.
3.) How can I differentiate between reproduction Oldsmobile front and rear black floor mats versus originals?
4.) If an accessory mat was ordered, would there always be the two piece trunk mat underneath it as well?
5.) What interior option needed to be checked in order to get the "chrome" plastic between the front arm rests and door panels? Was that included when the "fancier" rear arm rests were ordered?

The only way to get stereo sound in a 1970 was one front speaker and one rear speaker. The rear speaker was necessary for the AM/FM stereo radio to work. It was also necessary for the stereo 8 track to work. The 8 track had its own amps and thus could provide stereo with either the mono or stereo radio. The 8 track would switch the speakers over to its internal amps when a tape was inserted.
