Window handle crank removal

Trying to fix the rear driverside window on my 442 convertible. What is the best way to remove the handle? Thanks.

wrap a small rag around the crank between the handle and panel using a sawing action ..... the u clip will pop out without any damage to anything

Or,

Buy the special tool that is made for removing the clips. Autozone, Harbor freight etc. cheap and handy
