Starfire Carpet

Hi All,

I have been trying to find out what type of carpet to use in my 1964 Starfire. The carpet was replaced before I got the car and therfore is no longer original. I have 6 original floor mats which need to be cleaned up before I get them sown into the new carpet.
Four of these mats do have pieces of carpet sown to the bottom which I thought was original but I am told that it is not.

My question is.... does anyone know if the original carpet for the 64 Starfire was a loop carpet or not? If anyone has photo's of the original style carpet for this car could they please post them?
I need to replace mine and also get the bottom of the door panels and center console recovered but would like to keep it original if I can.

Thanks,
Rene

It's medium nap cut pile.

Far as I know the vinyl mats were sewn over the base carpet, at least all 64-5 I've seen are like that.

Here is a picture of the back seat area and the sewn in carpet trim. I believe it to be original, perhaps others can comment.
