shift indicator on column shift hook up?

Does anyone know how the shift indicator on column shift hooks up to the speedometer, the column was out of my car at some time and it was never reinstalled.
Thanks
Jeff

Hi Jeff
What year/model of car? Its probably a thin wire that's bent into a hook that attaches to an arm on the speedometer head. Then the other end is attached to the column by a clip that's bolted on. I'll see if I can find a photo of this on a 1970-72 Cutlass. John

Sorry Jeff, I lost track of your request. Here's a series of photos showing the hook attached to the column, then a loose speedometer head with the white plastic lever that the wire hook attaches to.

I probably have extras, but I'm not organized enough to know where they are I'd encourage you to create a parts wanted thread and your welcome to use these photos or link to this thread if you'd like. Good Luck! John

Ok I actually found the column attachment in a box of parts. Now I guess I need the length of the rod!! Do you think steel TIG rod is strong enough to make the linkage rod out of? Thanks!!
Jeff

What I was calling the hook is a very thin wire. I don't know if the spring on the back of the speedometer head would be able to pull back on something much thicker. John
