rear windo defroster

Now I know that the rear window defroster in the 1971 Oldsmobile cutlass was canceled, but does anybody know what year that they were used or a defroster that is compatible with the cutlass/442 models, that are from another car?

thanks
willie

My '70 four door has a rear defroster and the switch is part of the heater control panel...

The defroster was cancelled?

70 cars have a rear DEFOGGER. It is a blower mounted on the rear package tray that blows the air from the interior onto the rear window.

71/72 cars have a rear window DEFROSTER, where as the rear window has heated wires in it.

Why do they call it C50 Rear Window Defogger in '71 and it says R. Defog on the switch plate?

Prolly for the same reason the charging idiot light on the dash of my 72 still says "GEN" and not "ALT".
Choice of the engineers' words / terminology.

Blower-type rear defoggers were available on into the late 70s, factory and dealer installed.

According to the 72 body manual, only the 72 Buick A bodies came with the blower type defogger. The Olds verts had no defog option that year.

Not sure about the other years. The Olds does have the metal cutouts in the back seat area; I would like to add in a blower if i can ever find one in good shape. Of course i prolly would never use it anyway......

I wish i could find one because the window gathers condensation and it rolls down the inside of the window and onto the rear seat shelf and rots the jute and the shelf. It also rusts the shelf.
