PRE-assembled vs UNassembled

im looking to replace the interior door panels and quarter panels inside my 72. Oldsparts.com offers the panels in a preassembled and unassembled version. The difference in price is about 50 bucks. Has any one ever installed the unassembled version? I'm all about saving a buck if I can. Thanks

the assembled panels will save you more money in time than $50 each, plus if I remember correctly it means you don't get the window edge and a few other parts (chrome trim?), so if yours aren't any good on your present panels then you will need to buy those pieces anyway. Not sure about 72 but when I got my 70 repo panels there were still some subtle differences so I took the old chrome off and put it on the new panels.

Go with assembled. You will be much happier in the long run.

Also, if you are looking to do this once and do it right, go with Legendary panels.

Read through these posts to see if the extra money is worth the time and trouble.

I agree with the comments above.

Also, one of the major suppliers' door panels are extra-puffy behind the vinyl and they look like a wrinkled trash bag - even on the woodgrain - after a year or two. I can't believe they don't get massive amounts of complaints. It's not the Legendary ones though.

I want to go with legendary but they dont have the prices listed in their catalog. I found the panels assembled on oldparts.com for $269 a pair but i dont know what brand. Thanks for the advice. After looking at Lady72nRob71's post the install looks alot more detailed than i thought.

The front assembled ones from Legendary are $300 +/- Mine were $300.05 for my 68 with the 15% discount they gave me. The rears were $253.30

Don't be shy about asking them to give you a discount. Year One is giving 20% off every day.

Watch for free ship and other routine discounts on their website. It happens often.
