I am in need of knowing if the console was an option in the 66 442 with 4spd.
The car seem right it has the 400 G block with the B heads also it has the 355:1 diff. it has bucket seats with just a boot 4 spd everthing seems to be right. HELP.

A console was optional but the block should be an E block and not a G block.

Big Block reference chart:
Casting Number ID Code CID Year(s) Produced Notes
381917 A 425 1965 B Bodies (big cars) only
386525 Red A 425
389298 Bronze B 400 1965 One year only 442 motor. The heads were at a 45% bank then changed
to 39% in 1966, therefore make sure which manifold you're buying.
389244 D 425 1966 - 1967 Big car engine. Toronado is different internally.
390925 E 400 1966 Heads were changed to a 39% bank from the 1965 45% bank.
396021 F 455 1968 - 1972 Most common big block. Two types of "F" letters: stick type, and one with two vertical hangers and a base.
396021 Fa 455 1972 - 1976 Very common casting
396026 G 400 1968 - 1969 442 and Vista Cruiser
231788 L 455 1976 Motorhomes (1973 - 1978) maybe marine use also.

Yes a 66 should surely have an E block and B heads....It is there in the info you have posted.....there are no lame excuses from sellers that should be believed such as it was an early car so they used this block or that it has a 425 because they ran out of 400 blocks....Ive heard quite a few of these stories.....Also the shifter boot should have no chrome trim and have a flattened area that covers the carpet/hole. It should be roundish/oblong and not a square Hurst shifter boot. The shifter handle should be stamped 442.
