I need a heater core supplier for 68 cutlass
I purchased a heater core a while ago but just got around to doing the swap. Problem is, the new one doesn't match up with the old one. Rock auto, advance auto and autozone all show a unit on their web site that doesn't match up.
Can anyone help me find a source? The one I bought will not fit.
Thanks.
one on the right came out of the car. It is a no AC application.

The curve on the tube wouldn't be a problem, as long as the distance between the tubes are correct so it will go through the firewall holes. But the thickness of the core could be an issue. The last one I changed out had a clip that held the core in place. I don't know if it would work unless you came up with a spacer to add the correct thickness.

The new heater core will not fit in any orientation. I have the air box completely removed from under the dash. The inner fender well is removed. The underhood cover with blower motor is removed. This thing just aint gonna fit no matter how I position it.
And yes. It did have a clip to keep it in place so I think the thickness may also an issue.

All "A" bodies and most year Camaros used the same basic heater parts, housings, blowers etc from 65 - 72. Just browse the websites until you find a picture of one you think will fit better.
But, I really like the idea of getting the original recored, that would cure all problems. The new ones are made so cheap I have crushed the hose nipples a few times with worm clamps. Your original have much heavier ones.
As far as fit goes, you just need to seal the core to the housing so the air flows where it is supposed to. You cam make a bracket and use enough sealer/caulk to make what you have work. Pretty and correct don't really apply much in this area, only function matters, it's just a heat exchanger. I have done what I am saying here, it does work.
Good luck,

OK, I'm feeling a little silly here.
Turns out there is a pretty thick gasket that surrounds the inlet and outlet of the heater core. The gasket was still adhesed to the firewall after I pulled the heater core. The gasket and the firewall paint job by the previous owner prevented me from seeing the entire relief in the firewall. When I peeled this away, the core fit just like it was supposed to.
Thanks for the help.
I've enclosed a pic of the gasket on the new core.
