Hey everyone! I have a 64 dynamic, Could someone inform me on how the HVAC control switches work? Like does vacuum hold the buttons in?
So the blower works on all speeds, the off button works and the cool to heat blend door works. But when I depress and hold any of the other buttons under ventilation or the heat button, the the blower stops running and nothing happens.
When you push any button, two things happen. A bar on back of the pushbutton moves and latches into another bar on the control head. That bar rotates the vacuum valve to direct vacuum to the vacuum motors that move the doors to direct airflow where you want it.
Left vent button opens the left kick panel vent. Right opens the right side. Max opens both. Blower should not operate in these positions or in OFF.
Heat moves the outside air door and floor vent. Defrost switches airflow to the defroster vents at base of dashboard. Blower operates in these positions.
There's a master switch on the control that actuates the blower.
The diagram from the 1965 parts manual shows 1963, pretty sure 64 deluxe heater is the same. AC control is different. Hope it helps.
