heat/defrost control panel modification
The climate control switch on my 68 cutlass is broken. It seems the "off" position bracket broke on the back of the control unit. I'm planning to wire the gate in the air plenum open, then permanently disable the remaining "off" reature on the rear of the control unit.
It almost seems like an out of date feature anyway to permanently stop all airflow. I believe I will still be able to regulate the heat/cool via the heater door cable, and the force of the airflow using the fan switch.
The broken part is at the very rear of the assembly in the picture.
Can anyone think of a reason I shouldn't do it?
Unit has 3 cables. One for windshield/floor gate, one for heat/cool gate, and the damaged one for airflow/no airflow gate.
